In Character Information
Name: Sona Buvelle
Series: League of Legends
Canon Standing: Current League Date (which I unfortunately don’t know, sorry)
Age: Early 20’s? 22 if I had to guess
Birthday & Astrology Sign: Jan 29 / Aquarius
Arcana: The Hermit

Personality:
To understand Sona’s personality, one first must understand two important aspects of her life. First and foremost, Sona is completely, totally, 100% mute. She cannot speak, she cannot make a sound, she can’t so much as squeak. Because of this, her interaction with other people consists mostly of body language and music from her instrument, with a little written word sprinkled in here and there when necessary. Secondly, Sona is an orphan. For most of her early life, she had no ‘parents’ raising her, only the staff at her orphanage. Time and time again she was passed over for adoption because of her inability to speak, and that experience had a profound effect on Sona.

Sona’s typical attitude to life in general is earnest and confident. Whether she’s competing on the Fields of Justice, giving a concert or simply going through life’s everyday motions, Sona gives her all in everything she does. This again goes back to her time spent in the orphanage, and even her reasons for joining the league. Through her actions, Sona hopes to make people take notice of those who are otherwise passed over and ignored - those lost in plain sight. To this end, she gladly thrusts herself into the spotlight with gusto and confidence, regardless of the situation. However, some - or perhaps even a large part - of her confidence stems from her magical instrument. She takes a great deal of comfort from it, and though she can function without it, she’s a far more nervous, reserved person in these cases (not to mention the difficulties presented by communication without it). She shares a deep bond with it, a bond which quite possibly goes both ways (as I’ll get into later). And while she’s typically upbeat and happy, years of solitude and isolation from others (thanks to her muteness) does take it’s toll. Once in a while, when the weight of her lot in life weighs upon her, Sona’s mood can be generally somber and downbeat. Thankfully, it rarely lasts.

Sona has very few people that she would consider to be either family or close friends, but to those close to her, her love is infinite. She’d do anything for them and protect them in any way, shape or form possible. Why? Having been passed over many times, she’s spent much of her life in solitude. She truly appreciates those who not only notice her, but take the time to get to know and appreciate the person she is (and this goes doubly or triply for those who learn to easily communicate with her by learning how to interpret her musical expressions). Though she has a special affection for those truly close to her, she is still very warm and receptive to people she meets.

She’s friendly and outgoing - and though ‘outgoing’ may seem a strange descriptor for someone who can’t talk, she simply lets her music talk for her. She has an easy time getting along with people, even those who otherwise seem difficult to work with. The reverse isn’t always true, however, as there are people without the patience needed to get along with her. Without speech (and without sign language being a thing), Sona relies completely on her expressions, gestures, and melodies to convey a point. Smiles and quick rhythms for excitement, frowns and dissonant, harsh chords for anger and frustration, and other combinations for everything between. However, because of the patience required to deal with her, Sona has great patience for others - which likely explains how she can seem to get along with even the harshest of personalities (such as the giant, imposing, faceless, mysterious figure she formed a death metal band with back in her homr world).

Canon Powers:
None, see below.

Canon Weapons|Items:
While Sona herself has no special powers to speak of, her instrument (The Etwahl) is bursting with magical power. Through playing it, Sona can harness these powers both in direct and indirect ways. The most basic ability of it allows Sona to float along behind it, her feet never touching the ground as she glides behind it. She can also utilize the vibrations from it to slice objects from a distance - this is her basic attack, and would be considered strike for this app. In addition, she has three main ‘songs’ she can play with various effects, as well as a secondary ability that utilizes her songs and an ‘Ultimate Chord’. As a side note, the Etwahl also appears to be somewhat sentient, as when it is separated from Sona it somehow always seems to find its way back to her.

Power Chord: After playing several different songs, the power from the most recent one empowers her Etwahl’s standard cutting attack. The effect varies based on the last song played, and the various effects will be listed with the applicable songs. The power chord effect by itself also makes her cutting attack stronger, regardless of the secondary effect of the chord. Her power chord is still a basic attack form, but depending on the song empowering it, the attack attribute may change.

Hymn of Valor: As Sona begins to play this song, the Etwahl releases two potent bursts of magical energy at the nearest targets Sona views as enemies. The song itself is imbued with a magic that boosts the offensive capabilities of her allies within earshot. The magical bursts from this would be considered a wind elemental attacks. Power Chord: Her standard cutting attack is imbued with the magical energy of her Valor attack, granting a much harder hitting shot than any of her other power chords. This would also be a wind elemental attack.

Aria of Perseverance: When this song is started, the Etwahl immediately sends out a burst of healing magic towards the most wounded of Sona’s allies within close proximity. The song itself is imbued with magic that boosts the defensive capabilities of Sona’s allies, making them more resistant to attacks that come their way. Power Chord: Her cutting attack is imbued with magic that temporarily lowers the offensive capabilities of whatever it hits, reducing her target’s damage output. This would make it a mind attack.

Song of Celerity: When this song is started, the Etwahl sends out a burst of magical energy to each of Sona’s nearby allies, supercharging their speed for a few seconds. The song itself has a similar effect, granting her allies increased speed while it’s being played (though a lesser increase than the initial burst). Power Chord: Her cutting attack is imued with magic that temporarily slows the target she hits for several seconds, making it a mind attack.

Crescendo: This is not a sustained song, but rather Sona’s ‘Ultimate Chord’. Enemies struck with the sounds from this chord are temporarily forced to dance for several seconds while additionally taking a large burst of damage from the cutting vibrations the chord produces. As her ultimate move, this ability has the almighty property.

1st Person | Action Example
Here is a sample thread of Sona and Legion in the Tower of Animus setting, and here is a general thread.

3rd Person | Prose Example
The streets of the Scorpio district were a far cry from the usual venues Sona was used to performing in. Her time as a classical musician had been spent in grand music halls that she could only look at enviously now, and even if her shows as a part of Pentakill were hardly glamorous, they were at least in sold out stadiums packed full of screaming fans who desperately wanted to be there. Here, on the streets, it was all a thing of the past. There were dozens of other musicians on the street, each vying for what attention they could get from the passing denizens of the city.

Back home, she was a superstar. Here? She was back at square one.

Still, Sona was never one to shy away from a challenge. It was her drive to succeed that drove her to superstardom back home - both as a musician and a member of the League. If she did it there, she could do it again here. With this in mind, Sona laid claim to an unoccupied street corner, glad there was even one to be had in the busy district. Her natural beauty and her strange instrument would already help her stand out amongst the competition, so all that was left to do was to play. With a deep breath to calm herself and a nod to her instrument, Sona’s fingers began to dance across the strings.

It started off slow - a mournful melody, reminiscent of the cries of the weeping. But as Sona played, the song began to change. The tempo increased, and the cries of sorrow from the Etwahl became cries of joy, excitement and energy filling every note. From the misery came joy, and Sona herself was practically dancing behind her instrument as she played, hair flying and twirling around her in perfect time with the melody. Still, all good things must come to an end, and the songstress brought her performance to a halt with a final chord of joy from the Etwahl. Smiling at the small crowd that gathered, the Maven of the Strings took a bow and accepted what applause they gave.

It was small, but a start was a start.
